Schedules and retention
Run database and volume backups on a schedule, and control how long they are kept.
Schedule a backup
Section titled “Schedule a backup”- Open the server’s Backups tab.
- Create a schedule and select the database instance or volume.
- For a database, choose the full instance or the logical databases to include.
- Choose a verified storage provider.
- Set the cron schedule and check the next run time.
- Save the schedule, then inspect its first backup after it runs.
Scheduled backups appear in the same list as manual ones and can be restored the same way.
Disable a schedule to stop future runs. Its configuration and history stay. When you enable it again, the next run is calculated from that time. Deleting a schedule doesn’t delete the backups it created.
Configure retention
Section titled “Configure retention”Set retention per server under Settings → Backups, with two optional limits:
- Retention period, in days
- Maximum backups to keep
Leave a field empty for no limit. Serversinc prunes a backup only when it is past every limit you set. If one limit would keep it, it stays.
Serversinc always keeps the 3 most recent completed backup runs, and never prunes a locked backup. Lock the backups you need to keep, such as a snapshot taken before a release.
