Add a domain
Route a domain to an application through the managed reverse proxy, with HTTPS handled.
Adding a domain connects three pieces: DNS sends traffic to the server, the managed reverse proxy matches the hostname, and the application receives traffic on the correct container port.
Before you begin
Section titled “Before you begin”You need a deployed application, a domain you control, and the public address of the application’s server. Know which container port serves HTTP traffic. This is the internal application port, not necessarily a port already published on the host.
Point DNS at the server
Section titled “Point DNS at the server”Create an A record for the hostname using the server’s IPv4 address. Add an
AAAA record only when the server and your network path are ready to serve IPv6.
You can manage a connected Cloudflare zone through Serversinc or make the change
at your DNS provider.
Wait until the hostname resolves to the server before you deploy. The certificate can’t be issued until it does.
Add the domain to the application
Section titled “Add the domain to the application”- Open the application settings.
- Enter the hostname and select the container port that should receive traffic.
- Save the change.
- Redeploy the application so the routing configuration is applied to the new container.
- Follow the deployment until it completes.
Verify routing and HTTPS
Section titled “Verify routing and HTTPS”Open the HTTPS URL from a network outside the server. Confirm the expected application responds and the certificate covers the hostname. If it does not:
- Resolve the hostname and compare the answer with the server address.
- Confirm ports 80 and 443 can reach the server.
- Confirm the application is running and listening on the selected container port.
- Check the latest deployment and application logs.
